The earliest cookies

Did you know that the earliest cookies were made in seventeenth-century in Persia (now Iran)? Which was one the first countries that produce sugar? The word cookies however come from the Dutch word “koekje”. It is pronounce “kook-yah” and means a little cake.

The Germans called cookies “keks” and the Italian call them “biscotti”. One of the most popular cookies on the United State is the chocolate chip cookie. Most people don’t realize that it is a relatively modern cookie. Cookie is accidentally made by semisweet chocolate bars and mixed up with the dough, the chocolate mixed together with the dough resulting in all chocolate cookie. But the chocolate didn’t mixed with the dough and turn the baked cookies full of broken chocolates pieces. Thanks to Ruth Wakefield who accidentally made the cookies and she named her new creation “Toll House Cookies”.
